Not long after my first year at BAAFF, Covid hit. It sent everything into a tailspin, and it made it difficult to organize events, but we managed. We wound up using Yixuan Zeng's logo for a handful of years until she left the festival.

Susan Chinsen, the Festival Director hired Bren Bataclan, a local artist that paints murals and has given away 300 paintings worldwide to spread kindness. His style is very cute, cheerful, and childlike. My wife and I were asked to animate his logo.

There was just a handful of issues with this.

We had just had a WHIRLWIND of a summer. We had decided to move out of our old apartment- one that we had lived in for over a decade. We had shared this house for 13 years with friends, but it was high time to set off on our own. I remember feeling stressed because we had all lived together for so long, and it had also coincided with another issue. My wife and I had planned a trip to Iceland- and that trip ALSO coincided with WHEN we were due to move. So we had to move our items into storage, get into a PLANE, go to Iceland for 2 weeks, and then come back and unpack our stuff into the new apartment.

So I was a bit nervous when we were asked to make this animation in such a short time frame when we had all this other stuff going on. But- we figured it out! Below, is the 2023 BAAFF logo, animated by my wife and I.
